* INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPDATING THE RIPL CLIENT WIN-OS2 SESSION FOR USE *
* WITH THE OS/2 2.0 SERVICEPAK. *
* *

THE RIPL CLIENT(S) MUST NOT BE BOOTED WHILE COMPLETING STEPS 1 AND 2.
STEPS 1 AND 2 ARE TO BE COMPLETED ON THE RIPL SERVER.
1) Copy files that were installed into the wrong directory by the ServicePak.
Copy FROM directory: IBMLAN/RPL/OS2.20/OS2/INSTALL
Copy TO directory: IBMLAN/RPL/OS2.20/OS2/DLL
Files to be copied: PMCLIP.DLL
PMDDE.DLL
WINCFG.DLL
WINPRF.DLL
WCFGMRI.DLL
NOTE: These are common files shared by all RIPL clients and need to be
copied only once.
2) Install and run the RPLWINSP utility to update the RIPL client
WIN-OS/2 environment.
The RPLWINSP utility consists of three files.
Install RPLWINSP.EXE in the IBMLAN/NETPROG directory on your RIPL server.
Install RPLWINSP.DOC in the IBMLAN/NETPROG directory on your RIPL server.
Install SYSTEM.SP in the IBMLAN/NETPROG directory on your RIPL server.
Run RPLWINSP for each RIPL client that you want to update.
Specify the name of the RIPL client as the command line parameter.
For example, if you wanted to update a RIPL client named "JONES"
you would run: RPLWINSP JONES
NOTE: REPEAT STEP 2 FOR ALL RIPL CLIENTS THAT WILL BE BOOTING
THE SERVICEPAK.
RPLWINSP does the following tasks:
A) Creates the WIN-OS/2 Setup object in the RIPL client OS2INI.20 file
B) Updates the RIPL client SYSTEM.INI file
C) Corrects drive letter identifiers in the RIPL client AUTOEXEC.20 file
BOOT THE RIPL CLIENT AND COMPLETE STEPS 3 AND 4.
STEPS 3 AND 4 MUST BE COMPLETED ON THE RIPL CLIENT.
3) Each application that wants to use the Clipboard and DDE
must be updated to enable that feature.
A) Open Settings for the individual application
B) Select Session
C) Open Win-OS2 Settings....
D) Select ON for WIN_DDE feature
E) Select ON for WIN_CLIPBOARD feature
F) Save new settings
4) The WIN-OS/2 Setup object in System Setup folder must be
updated to allow public DDE.
A) Open OS/2 System folder
B) Open System Setup
C) Open Win-OS2 Setup
D) Select Data Exchange
E) Select PUBLIC for DDE and Clipboard
F) Save new settings
